British Champions Day marks the grand finale of the European Flat racing season and the British Champions Series. With over £3 million in prize money across the final races in each of the five QIPCO British Champions Series categories, it offers a fantastic opportunity for the season’s top horses, their owners, trainers, and jockeys to achieve sporting immortality on Ascot’s historic turf.
This raceday features the end-of-season championship races for ten-furlong horses (The Champion Stakes), milers (The Queen Elizabeth II Stakes), sprinters (six furlongs), long-distance horses (two miles), and fillies and mares (one mile and four furlongs).
In 2011, the legendary Frankel, the world’s best racehorse, maintained his unbeaten record with a breathtaking victory in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes. The following year, he returned to conclude his illustrious and still unbeaten career in the Champion Stakes, thrilling a sell-out crowd of 32,000.
