Cheltenham Festival – Day 1 – Fergal O’Brien & Cheltenham Racecourse

Day 1 of the Cheltenham Festival 2025 kicked off today with great excitement and anticipation. The festival began with the Michael O’Sullivan Supreme Novices’ Hurdle, honouring the late jockey, Michael O’Sullivan. The famous Cheltenham Roar greeted the runners and riders, setting the tone for a thrilling day of racing.

Andrew was the first member of the AR Events team to head to Cheltenham Festival today.

First Stop – Fergal O’Brien Stables

The day started extremely early with an invite to Fergal O’Brien stables at Ravenswell Farm. Andrew watched in fascination as the horses set off on their early morning ride, warming up for the exciting week ahead at Cheltenham Racecourse.

Fergal O’Brien Racing is a National Hunt horse racing training establishment located in the heart of the Cotswolds. They are blessed with a state-of-art training facility currently comprising over 100 stables, both an uphill and a round gallop and an all-weather schooling strip. On site there is also an Owner’s Room, a Racing Office and 8 en-suite bedrooms for staff accommodation.

Andrew commented on his visit and stated, “It really is one of the best facilities that I have ever seen!”

Next Stop – Cheltenham Racecourse – Day 1 National Hunt Festival

Following from the amazing experience at Fergal O’Brien stables, Andrew headed to the racecourse to witness the horses in action! 

Overall, it was a fantastic start to the week, promising more exhilarating action in the days to come!
